The winners of the Furni-Tur Design Competition, undertaken with the cooperation of İstikbal, as the leading brand in the furniture industry, and Turkey Design Foundation were presented their awards.
The Furni-Tur International Furniture Design Competition realized by the cooperation of Erciyes Anadolu Holding’s leading furniture industry brand İstikbal and Turkey Design Foundation, took place on January 16 with the participation of the design world’s top names, contestants and press members.
Contemporary designers were invited to contemplate and design dining areas of the near future, circa 2030, and apart from the first three projects selected in the competition, three honorable mentions, an İstikbal Special Design Award and the Turkish Design Foundation’s special award were awarded to promote design with a total of eight awards. Contestants Irem Nur Demir, Idil Sancer and Baran Furkan Baydeniz’s team won first place with their Olio project, while Umit Karaca and Ismail Köse won second place with their Mobi Project. Fatma Zehra Ermez received the third prize for her Y-Table project.
Speaking at the ceremony, İstikbal Furniture General Manager Mehmet Ali Yörük said: "I believe that it is very valuable for İstikbal Furniture to undertake a competition focused on culture, design and the future, focusing on the international recognition of the İstikbal brand and the culture of furniture."
Speaking at the award ceremony of the competition, which also gained notoriety with the involvement of well-known, respected members of the design world as jury members, Turkish Design Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Fehmi Bilge stated that with the Furni-Tur competition, "they were pleased to bring together young and talented designers working on the furniture of the future that is the embodiment of the interaction of contemporary culture and design.”
